Every week, the Fantasy Aces will provide players, that they feel will surprise the fantasy world by having unexpected success in the upcoming week. An Ace, King, Queen and Jack - players who, in our opinion, are currently ranked outside the Top 10 but have the opportunity to produce as Top 10 players or close to it at their respective positions. The final selection will be The Wild Card – one player that has the opportunity to far exceed expectations based on a cozy match-up or prior production. Anybody can tell you to Always Start Your Studs but sometimes making the right decision for your #3 WR, flex position, questionable Quarterback or Tight End can be the difference in winning or losing. Getting off to a strong start really takes the pressure off as you move forward. Best of luck to all of you in Week 10.
Ace of Spade’s Selections
Ace: QB, Joe Flacco vs Browns ~ Flacco could very well be one of the premier plays at the QB position for week 10. The last time Flacco played the Brownies, or the Tootsie Rolls as my son calls them, he lit them up for over 300 passing yards but only had a single score. This time around, Flacco gets to face the Browns on MNF and I expect a great performance from him as he should approach or once again exceed 300 yards and throw for multiple scores along with rushing a few times for about 15 more yards. He makes for a great replacement for those teams out there who usually start Matt Schaub.
King: RB, LeSean McCoy @ Chargers ~ McCoy seems to be on his way to taking over the starting gig in Philly. Westy suffered a concussion which he hasn’t had an easy time getting over and now he’s also dealing with an ailing knee. Meanwhile, McCoy has filled in admirably and with more opportunities, could very well play the exact same role that Westy did in the offense. If Westy continues to have issues or can’t play this Sunday altogether, McCoy would fill in again and could post close to 100 total yards, grab a handful of receptions and score as well.
Queen: RBs, Darren McFadden/Justin Fargas vs Chiefs ~ What an interesting week for McFadden to possibly return to action as Fargas has been handling the job fairly well considering the rest of the offense. This week the Raiders get to face the Chiefs in Oaktown and the Raider rushing attack should have some nice success. Now who will be spear-heading the attack? Coming off of injury, I expect McFadden to be slowly worked back in but he’s very explosive and even with 8-12 touches, he could exploit the Chiefs defense for 50-60 yards and could add a TD. Fargas on the other hand, should continue to get the majority of looks and come close to 90 total yards and he’s the more likely candidate to score a TD. If you’re strapped at the RB spot, starting Fargas as a #2 RB and DMC in the flex spot should yield some solid fantasy totals.
Jack: WR, Kelley Washington vs Browns ~ You had to figure that if Flacco was getting the green light this week that somebody else from his squad might be added to this group as well. Sure Derrick Mason should have a big game and Mark Clayton, along with Todd Heap and Ray Rice will see passes thrown their way. However, in a game like this I can see Kelley Washington have one of his better games on the year with the Ravens basically able to do as they please. Opposing defenses can offer much resistance when it comes to covering Washington as there are just too many other more important players to consider. Play Washington if you’re in need at the WR position and expect about 50-60 yards and a possible TD.
The Wild Card: RB, Shonn Greene vs Jaguars ~ Since Leon Washington was placed on IR for the year, Greene has had one big game and one…well, not so big game. Washington’s skill set brought a whole different dimension to the Jets’ offense and Greene doesn’t fill that same role but he should split carries with Jones, playing the lesser role. However, facing a team like the Jaguars should provide more than enough of an opportunity for Jones to post big numbers and then for Greene to come in and post very good numbers while helping close out a victory. Greene should see enough action that he tallies close to 80 yards and very possibly takes one across the stripe.
Ace of Club’s Selections
Ace: WR, Robert Meachem @ Rams ~ With Lance Moore out last week, Meachem filled in nicely. He went 5 for 98 and one TD. Pretty much expect the same again this week, as the Saints travel to the Rams. Lets face it- the Rams are in the bottom three when it comes to the worst teams in the NFL. Brees and the Saints will come “marching in” this week, and “march out” with a lot of points, yards, field goals- everything. Start Meachem without reservation.
King: WR, Chris Chambers @ Raiders ~ I have to be honest here- I thought the move to Kansas City was a desperation move for Chambers. It seemed like he was looking for one last shot somewhere. However, I guess I was totally wrong. He only had three grabs, but compiled 70 yards and 2 TD’s, in the process. Not a bad first game with a new team. As Cassel becomes more familiar with Chambers, and him playing opposite of Bowe, Chambers is bound to get better and better as the weeks progress. Look for similar yards this week, just downgrade from 2 TD’s to 1.
Queen: RB, Justin Fargas vs Chiefs ~ Staying in that game, I like Fargas this week as well. Every time the Chiefs and Raiders meet it’s a downright battle to the end. I would say that the Raider/Chief rivalry could be the biggest in the NFL. These two teams hate each other so much- therefore they play their best when they meet up. Fargas should have a decent game and possibly 1 TD somewhere along the line (rushing or receiving). Start him as a possible #2, definitely #3 RB this week.
Jack: WR, Sam Aiken @ Colts ~ This is the game of the week! With all the attention on Brady/Manning, Moss/Wayne; Welker/Clark, Sam Aiken will do his share on the field on Sunday. This is one of those scenarios where the opposing team has a few guys in the secondary hurt and the good ones that are left will have their hands full with the “main receivers.” Don’t get me wrong- Moss and Welker should have decent days too, but Aiken will produce nicely.
The Wild Card, QB, Josh Freeman @ Dolphins ~ Anyone who can beat the Packers, especially in a dreadful; plug ugly uniform, is OK in my book! I’ll give Freeman the nod this week, only because he posted nice numbers against the Pack and he is playing the Dolphins. Maybe they should continue to wear those uniforms- even if the NFL fines them when they’re not supposed to- if it will get them to win!
Ace of Heart’s Selections
Ace: WR, Antonio Bryant @ Dolphins ~ Rookie QB Josh Freeman came in last week and upset the Packers and got Tampa Bay their first win of the season. Sounds like a spark to me! This week he throws against two rookie cornerbacks and the 29th ranked pass defense in the NFL. So who will he be throwing to?? Antonio Bryant. Bryant has a receiving touchdown in three of his last four games against AFC opponents and will get another this week. He’s a sure thing this week, start him!
King: QB, Alex Smith vs Bears ~ Get your lineups updated early this week because we’ve got a Thursday night game and Shaun Hill is a good option tonight against Chicago. Both teams are facing a must win situation and will both be playing hard. Chicago’s defense hasn’t been living up to standards and Shaun Hill is looking for his first starting win since September 16, 2007. If that’s not motivation enough it will be a nice victory for head coach Singletary in his first matchup as the boss against his former team where he was a Hall of Fame linebacker. Additionally, the Bears (historically) cannot play well in San Francisco, having gone 0-6 in the regular season since 85’. Give Alex the go ahead tonight be it as a bye week fill-in or flex QB.
Queen: RB, Knowshon Moreno @ Redskins ~ What a horrible showing Monday night for Knowshon, we here at FantasyAces had high hopes for him but he can’t seem to get things rolling. Splitting time with Buckhaulter doesn’t help either, but this may be his week to finally break out. He’s up against the Skins this week and the combination of Denver’s loss and Skins’ top ranked pass defense will present a good opportunity. I think Moreno will punch in 75 on the ground, a rushing TD and add 4 receptions for 30.
Jack: WR, Keenan Burton vs Saints ~ While the Saints chase 9-0, the Rams will be chasing them in what I believe to be a high octane, offensive shootout. S. Jax will keep the defense honest and Saints corners will keep a close eye on Avery, leaving Burton in single coverage. Burton’s reaching for that ever difficult first TD and he gets it this week, I see him getting 6 receptions for 70 yards and a TD.
The Wild Card: RB, Fred Jackson @ Titans ~ Fred Jackson’s number have crashed worse than the 08’ stock market thanks to Lynch’s return and the fact that the Bills are just flat out bad. However I feel good about his matchup in Tennessee this week. Sure Lynch is still in the picture but something tells me Jackson will play more of a rule this week, use him as a bye week 3rd option if you have him, Tennessee has an average rush defense but have given up 8 TDs on the ground, I think Jackson adds to that stat this week.
